  • Your Day, Your Way

You control the voyage on your charter and dictate your dream day, not our company, allowing for multiple activities not just a specific one and a day filled with your dream itinerary.

  • Only The Best Captains

Being we don't employ the captains directly, we open ourselves to not being tied to someone. We only select the top captains in the area to put on our pre-approved list, which leaves you the selection of the best captains in the area to join your charterers.

  • Large Charter Capacity

Due to the foreign built vessels SeaEO exclusively uses, it forces the largest allowable non-COI charter capacity. That allows you, the crew, and 12 of your guests to join you on your voyage!

Why people LOVE SeaEO

How many guests can join a private Dry Tortugas charter?

SeaEO charters are designed for groups of up to 13 people in the charter party - the charterer plus up to 12 guests - in addition to the captain and any crew. That makes a Dry Tortugas charter a strong option for couples, families and larger groups without moving to a large commercial tour boat.

How long does a private charter to Dry Tortugas National Park take?

Plan on a full-day experience. Dry Tortugas National Park is roughly 70 miles west of Key West, so a substantial portion of the day is spent making the offshore run there and back. Your total time at Garden Key, Fort Jefferson or other stops depends on sea conditions and the charter duration selected.

What is included in the cost of a Dry Tortugas charter?

Your Dry Tortugas booking covers the private use of the selected SeaEO vessel and its listed onboard amenities for the reserved charter time. SeaEO’s Axopar 37 fleet includes features such as a bathroom, Bluetooth audio, enclosed cabin space, sunpads and a small cooler/refrigeration area. Fuel is not included, and captain payment is handled separately under SeaEO’s demise-charter structure. Exact inclusions and add-ons are shown during booking.

Is fuel included in the charter price?

No. Fuel is separate from the listed Dry Tortugas charter price. SeaEO tracks fuel used during the trip and discloses typical fuel costs during booking; the final amount varies with charter length, cruising speed, route and the number of longer-distance stops you choose. This structure allows the itinerary to stay flexible rather than limiting the trip to reduce fuel use.

Can we bring food, drinks, and alcohol for the trip?

Yes. SeaEO allows alcohol, food, drinks and snacks aboard its Dry Tortugas charters, and the website also lists glass bottles as permitted. Guests are responsible for consuming alcohol safely and following the captain’s directions at all times.

What should we pack for a full-day Dry Tortugas charter?

SeaEO recommends bringing drinks, food or snacks, sunscreen and towels. For a longer day, bring plenty of water, sun protection and enough food for the full trip. Wear comfortable clothing suited to the weather and bring a swimsuit if swimming is part of your plan. The boat provides enclosed space and onboard amenities, but packing for sun, wind and time in the water will make the day more comfortable.

What happens if weather or sea conditions make the trip unsafe?

Safety and the quality of the trip come first. If weather, wind, tides or sea conditions make the planned Dry Tortugas itinerary unsuitable, your captain may modify the route or activity plan. Offshore or open-water routes can be adjusted to a more protected itinerary when practical. If the operator has to cancel the trip, SeaEO’s policy provides for rescheduling or a refund/credit under the applicable booking terms.

Can we visit and explore Fort Jefferson during our charter?

Yes, a stop at Garden Key to explore Fort Jefferson can be considered as part of a custom Dry Tortugas itinerary when charter length, weather, tides, water depth, local rules and docking/anchoring conditions allow. SeaEO’s trips are intentionally flexible, so the captain can help decide whether that stop fits naturally into the day. SeaEO specifically promotes the historic fort as a centerpiece of its Dry Tortugas experience, along with snorkeling and other park activities.

How much time will we have at Garden Key?

Your time on Garden Key depends on the total charter duration, the offshore crossing and sea conditions that day. SeaEO’s Dry Tortugas guides describe the visit as a full-day outing and note that guests generally have time to explore Fort Jefferson, snorkel and enjoy the island before the return run to Key West.

Can we snorkel during our Dry Tortugas trip?

Yes. Snorkeling is one of the signature activities SeaEO highlights for Dry Tortugas. Garden Key offers shallow, clear-water snorkeling around the fort and reef habitat. Bring snorkel gear, and the captain will help fit water time into the day based on conditions, park rules and the offshore travel schedule.

Is a Dry Tortugas charter suitable for children?

It can be, especially for families comfortable with a long day on a boat, but Dry Tortugas is a much longer offshore trip than SeaEO’s typical local cruises. Consider your child’s comfort with several hours of travel, sun exposure and limited island services. The boat has enclosed cabin space and a bathroom, which can make the day easier for families.

What is the best time of year to visit the Dry Tortugas by private boat?

There is no single perfect month because the deciding factor is offshore sea state. Dry Tortugas is a long open-water run, so calmer wind and wave conditions are more important than simply choosing a season. SeaEO recommends planning around the marine forecast and allowing flexibility when possible; the captain will make the final safety call for the crossing.

How is a private Dry Tortugas charter different from taking the ferry?

A private SeaEO charter gives your group control over the pace and itinerary rather than following the ferry’s fixed schedule. SeaEO highlights the ability to customize time around Fort Jefferson, snorkeling and potentially locations such as Loggerhead Key that the public ferry does not serve. The tradeoff is that a private offshore charter has a higher trip and fuel cost than a public ferry ticket.
