Set sail for the 23rd Annual Leo Wardrup Memorial Cape Charles Cup (LWMCCC), a premier two-day distance racing event hosted by the Broad Bay Sailing Association. Scheduled for August 15–16, 2026, with a mandatory skippers' meeting on Friday, August 14, this regatta offers a unique overnight destination in historic Cape Charles.
The event attracts sailors from across the Chesapeake Bay, featuring multiple divisions including PHRF, CMA multi-hulls, and various cruising classes. Saturday’s festivities take place in downtown Cape Charles at a vibrant social event featuring live music, dancing, and a catered dinner of beef tips and crabcakes provided by Mallard's at the Wharf. Beyond the thrill of competition, the regatta serves as a major charity event, having donated over $65,000 to the Sail Nauticus Academy to support youth sailing and STEM education.
