Every summer, Norfolk Festevents produces a season-long series of Friday evening events at the park, running from early July through Labor Day weekend. The series includes themed party nights, live music from local and regional bands, family fun and movie nights, children's activities, cornhole, food, and beverages. It is one of the most consistent and well-attended summer traditions in Hampton Roads, and the whole thing is free and open to the public.

The 2026 Labor Day Celebration takes place on Saturday, September 5 at Ocean View Beach Park, from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM. The evening features a live performance by BrassWind, food and beverages, children's activities, and a fireworks show over the Chesapeake Bay at 9:30 PM.
The event is free and open to the public. There is no ticket or wristband required.

Between July and September, the park hosts themed Friday night parties with live music on the Chesapeake Bay, children's activities, cornhole games, food vendors, and more. The series also includes Family Fun and Movie Nights, where families spread out on the lawn for an outdoor screening after the sun goes down.
Big Bands on the Bay, a separate event series, brings live big band music and dancing to the park's gazebo on Sunday evenings. It is a quieter, more intimate counterpart to the Friday night events and draws its own loyal following.

Getting There
Ocean View Beach Park is located at 100 West Ocean View Avenue in Norfolk. From Interstate 64, take the exit at 4th View Street and head north toward the bay. The park has approximately 70 parking spaces, including handicapped-accessible spots, but they fill up quickly for the larger events. Street parking in the surrounding Ocean View neighborhood is an option, though arriving early is the best strategy for the Labor Day celebration. Carpooling or ridesharing is worth considering for the fireworks crowd.
What to Bring
The park has open green space and beach access, but shade can be limited. Bring a blanket or low chairs for the grass area, sunscreen if arriving before sunset, and a cooler with water and snacks.
